Shared Water

Makangale Bay shares water supply with the nearby village. The village used to manually pull water using rope and bucket. In 2022 Makangale Bay drew electricity from the lodge to the village and an electrical water pump and a water tower was installed.Today, the water pump and tower supply water to the lodge and the village. Taps now supply water directly to the community and they no longer have to carry water long distances by hand. The lodge pays for the electricity powering the pump to the shared water tower and from there to a network of taps.The community gets reliable, clean water every day at no cost to them. Funding from guests stays at the lodge keeps the water taps running.
